Hot Work Steel

Hot work tools operate at elevated temperatures and form products in aluminium, steel or other metals. The most common application areas in hot work are die casting, extrusion and forging. Where demands on the tool are high, tool materials for hot work applications must have:

  • High resistance to heat checking
  • Good strength at high temperatures
  • Resistance to cracking and crack propagation
